Fund Management Companies, Representatives and Distributors for Investment Funds

The Swiss fund market offers a wide range of products from Swiss and foreign companies. Investors can choose products from all the main investment markets, enabling each individual to implement his preferred investment strategy.

Zurich: Popular as a Location for Fund Providers

Investment funds obtain assets from investors through public advertising for the purpose of collective investment; these assets are usually administered by the fund management for the account of the investors, in accordance with the principle of risk diversification. Switzerland has more than 600 fund management companies, representatives, and distributors for investment funds. Almost 40% of them operate from the Zurich Financial Center. The fund representatives include many banks.

6,500 Funds Offer Highly Differentiated Investment Strategies

At the end of 2008, about 6,500 funds were authorized for public distribution in Switzerland, including 1,300 entities under Swiss law. The other funds are entities under foreign law. Investors can therefore choose from a wide range which enables them to implement highly differentiated investment strategies in line with their preferences. At the end of 2008, the total assets of funds constituted under Swiss and foreign law amounted to CHF 452 billion.
